Work includes rolling on grape vine canes, pulling old canes, pre season farm preparation etc. People who have find an affinity for the work may have the opportunity to gain additional work as the current jobs complete and next seasonal task comes around. Anticipate ongoing work for the right people through to April with opportunity for permanent work.

Participants have the opportunity to:

·         Develop skill sets – dried fruit, table grape, mandarin, orange.

·         Learn about Mildura region: relocation opportunity.

·         Monday to Friday: Opportunity to return to home town over weekend.

·         Participants will receive induction training.

Participants must provide tax file numbers.

This work will be under a contractor who works with SMECC in a sustainable employment model. The farms which will host the work are generally Australian corporates.

There is accommodation available on farm. SMECC also has a limited accommodation facility which may be available. 

·         Accommodation will cost $100 (approximate).

·         Meals at own cost.

·         Transport to Mildura to be negotiated.

·         Local transport to work may be available.This is an opportunity for prospective workers to embed in the industry in seasonal work prior to the labour expansion which occurs during harvest. As such they will have already developed networks into industry and have an understanding of local conditions.
